Infrastructure Sabotage

EVIDENCE OF SABOTAGE

CEO of Eskom confirms sabotage

In November 2021, the CEO of Eskom, Andre de Ruyter, confirmed that sabotage took place at Lethabo Power Station that could have plunged the country into Stage 6 of load shedding or worse.

“Sabotage is real at Tutuka”

Clear signs of sabotage were discovered at Tutuka power station preventing one of its units from returning to service on Tuesday, 17 May 2022.

A(nother) cable was cut at Matla Power Station

Whilst being plummeted into the dark and cold by load shedding another cable was deliberately cut over the weekend of 22 May 2022 at Matla Power Station. This marked the 4th incident in a week.

When ordinary employees are part of problem

News24[1] stated in an article published on 19 May 2022 that one of the latest attack on Eskom’s infrastructure was committed just outside of the sight of CCTV cameras at Tutuka Power Station. This seems to suggest that someone who knew exactly where the CCTV cameras were, had cut the warming valve cable that prevented Unit 5 at the coal-fired power station from warming up and thus returning to service. Further cases of sabotage were found, with the latest incident being at Matla Power Station over the weekend of 22 May 2022. This suggests that we have a severe problem in our country. When employees and ordinary citizens start engaging in sabotage for whatever motives, that results in damage not only to our infrastructure, our State Owned Enterprises (SOE), our economy but also to the lives of our citizens, we have a real problem!

Everyone seems to be in it for themselves, and for short term gains, without considering the impact they are having on the economy, on our country and ultimately (and ironically) on their own lives. They seem to forget that when the power goes out and the country is plummeted into the dark and cold, they too are left in the dark and cold.

So why would an ordinary employee or citizen engage in this kind of criminal behaviour? Is it for financial gain – being paid by someone else with ulterior motives such as wanting Eskom to fail? Is it because of disgruntlement? Or perhaps these individuals are paid overtime to “fix” the damage they themselves have created? Are they hoping to secure their jobs by creating problems? Or perhaps they are working with bad people and bad groups to see the SOEs and our country fail so that we can be “bought” by individuals like the Guptas, or even other countries. We can only speculate at this stage, but what these ordinary employees and citizens do not realise is that although they may be benefiting on the short term or they may think they are taking care of themselves, the fact remains their actions are affecting those around them and ironically themselves too. They too will pay the price as the SOEs like Eskom collapse. When this happens the country will collapse and many more people will starve. So despite what they may think, they are  a massive part of the problem, and if you know or support these individuals you too are a massive part of the problem.

When you are involved in sabotage or infrastructure theft, you are harming yourself.

As united citizens we can stop the rot

If we do not stop the rot, we will end up in the dark (literally).

If you are part of the problem, please STOP! The damage you are doing is huge and it affects everyone, even you!

If you know of someone who is part of the problem, who may be gaining from the sabotage and theft of infrastructure, it is time to influence them or to do whatever it takes to stop them.

Report crime if you can. Use the Eskom crime line or report it to the police.

Unite as a society to speak up.

Unite as a community.

Utilise your community leaders to help report it or stop the crime.

Let’s stand together.

Let’s say enough is enough before we end up in the dark ages and our inaction ends up destroying our country.
